On the other hand, I think his confrontations with the Kurds were purly oportunistic, and that he abused his power by sending the security forces after the Sons of Iraq and the Accordance Front in places like Diyala and Salahaddin.Joel Winghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09611810110771744360noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1953410733493889728.post-17898783339341579392010-04-12T12:09:54.509-07:002010-04-12T12:09:54.509-07:00Ali thanks for the gracious offer. I also agree that the strong hand that Maliki displayed was exactly what Iraq needed. Otherwise the South and Sadr City would still be run by criminal gangs, and the Kurds would be further on their way towards weakening Iraq by amassing more regional powers.Jasonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02594232079556508582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1953410733493889728.post-71901759470391496812010-04-12T01:52:39.775-07:002010-04-12T01:52:39.775-07:00Joel

Wouldn't it be nice if Maliki and Allawi could have a sit down and work out a power sharing agreement? While it's true Maliki turned on some of these groups,it's also true that Iraq benefitted as a result. Sadrists aren't holding neighborhoods hostage, and Kurds haven't split off from the rest of Iraq.Mauryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08155413912838430846noreply@blogger.com
