Arabs in Mosul protested againt the peshmerga providing security for Mosul Dam. They said the peshmergas were there for the last 5 years and needed to leave. It's those kinds of sentiments that are stalling the plans for joint patrols.Joel Winghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09611810110771744360noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1953410733493889728.post-11131601548320107922009-09-30T10:39:49.808-07:002009-09-30T10:39:49.808-07:00Hi Joel

The Kurds are seen as expansionist and sometimes abusive. They think the idea of the joint patrols will legitimize the peshmerga's presence. They also think government forces should provide security, which the Kurds are opposed to which is just a microcosm of the deadlock that's happening in the disputed ares.Joel Winghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09611810110771744360noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1953410733493889728.post-1619844189058689852009-09-29T13:48:05.400-07:002009-09-29T13:48:05.400-07:00I still don't get it. They'd rather get blown up than see a joint patrol rolling through their neighborhood? There is something I'm missing here. How does this affect the political situation there in anyone's favor - Kurdish, Sunni or otherwise?amaginoreply@blogger.com
