In November the Iraqi Resistance continued its campaign against Israel despite increasing warnings that Israel will strike Iraq. The Islamic State was absent from the country once again.
There were no incidents involving the Islamic State in Iraq during the first week of November. That was the 19th week out of 41 this year where there was no violence by the insurgency.
In August the group attempted a small comeback being active 3 out of 4 weeks and then 3 out of 4 weeks in September but then that fell off in October. Since the start of October there have only been 2 weeks with militant activity versus 3 with none.
The loss of the group’s Wali/Governor for Iraq will likely setback the group even more because it has completely failed to rebuild its leadership and networks in the country.
On the other hand there were 18 attacks upon Israel by Iraq’s Islamic Resistance. This comes after 65 attacks upon the country in October the most since the start of the war in Gaza last year.
On top of that there are reports that Iran is planning to use Iraqi territory to launch retaliatory strikes upon Israel. That was followed by stories that Iran moved missiles and equipment into Iraq and that its allies such as the Al-Nujaba Movement would work with Tehran to attack Israel.
The United States warned Baghdad that Israel will attack it if this continues.
Iraq has desperately been trying to dissuade Iran and the Resistance out of this but to no avail. Two delegations to Tehran were rejected and an advisor to Prime Minister Sudani said that pro-Iran groups are embarrassing the government.
