Iraq’s oil output took a jump in July as a result of OPEC+ increasing the country’s production quota. That resulted in a four month high in sales and revenues.
In July Iraq exported an average of 3.37 million barrels a day. That was up from 3.296 million barrels in June and the highest amount since March when the country sold an average of 3.441 million barrels in March.
OPEC+ has been easing its production quota for the country allowing it to sell more.
Those two factors led to Iraq earning $7.15 billion from oil in July. In June it made $6.698 billion. July’s figure was also the most the nation made since March.
Iraq needs to earn more money from oil which is the main source of government funding. Revenues have been down in 2024 putting a major strain on the country’s finances as it has passed the largest budgets in its history over the last few years which are almost completely dependent upon oil.
