Security In Iraq June 8-14, 2014

The Islamic State was absent from Iraq for another week while pro-Iran groups continued attacks upon Israel during the Gaza War.

 

From June 8-14 there were no reported incidents involving the Islamic State in Iraq. That was the second straight week with zero attacks by the insurgency. Overall, this was the 10^th out of 22 weeks when there was no activity by IS in the country this year.

 

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed two drone strikes on Israel. There have been reports in the Israeli press that there might be retaliation for these attacks but nothing has transpired yet. The Resistance continues to focus upon Israel since a ceasefire still holds within Iraq against attacking Americans there.
