Global oil prices are heading towards $100 per barrel again, which benefits Iraq the most oil dependent country in the world.
In January 2022 the country exported an average of 3.203 million barrels a day. That was down from December's mark of 3.277 million barrels. Exports had been rising for seven months straight, but they often fluctuate.
The rising exports were due to Iraq's oil production quota increasing under the OPEC+ agreement. In January the nation's quota was 4.281 million barrels up from 4.237 million barrels in December.
Despite the drop in sales prices continued to rise. Iraq sold a barrel of crude for $83.24 in January. That was the highest amount since September 2013. That meant the nation earned $8.27 billion the most since August 2013. This was welcomed news for Baghdad that earns almost all of its money from petroleum.
