1980 Iraq began second attack on Khorramshahr, Iran
1990 Pres Bush decided to give up on sanctions and use force to expel Iraq from
            Kuwait
1991 Iraq rejected UN Resolution 715 which extended UN weapons inspections and
            allowed cameras to be installed at former weapons sites
1996 Inspector report to UN Secretary General said Iraq had not fully disclosed its
            WMD and missile programs
2001 Blair told Bush talk of war with Iraq was undermining war in Afghanistan and
            Iraq could come later
2002 Putin said he supported new inspections in Iraq but doubted Saddam had WMD
2002 Senate passed resolution allowing use of force against Iraq
2002 CIA analysts complained to press they were being pressured by Pentagon about
            their Iraq assessments
2003 Sadrists held large demonstrations against occupation
2004 IAEA warned that nuclear materials had been looted in Iraq after invasion
2005 US agreement created committee to amend new constitution after it was passed
            to get Sunni support Amendments never happened
2006 NSC Iraq policy review called for surge in troops to secure Baghdad Diyala
            Anbar
2006 Bush said reason violence up in Iraq because US and Iraqi forces were on the
            offensive
2006 US Iraq Amb Khalizad said US didn't have forces to make new Baghdad
            security plan work
2015 KDP security refused to allow KRG Speaker of parliament from Gorran to enter
            Irbil city and attend parliament
