Security In Iraq Mar 1-7, 2025


There was another incident by the Islamic State in Iraq during the 1st week of March.

 

In Baghdad a checkpoint was attacked along the highway to Kirkuk. There were no casualties.

 

This was the third straight week of attacks by the insurgency. Despite that IS activity is still at a minuscule level. There has only been a total of 10 incidents since the start of the year. 3 of those were old IEDs going off and 2 were the result of security sweeps. That means there has only been 5 actual attacks in 9 weeks. Rather than some kind of comeback this just appears to be a return to the group’s ineffectiveness.
