The Baghdad Airport was the center of attention on March 30. During the day rockets hit the military part of the facility destroying an Iraqi Security Forces transport plane. Then at night a drone crashed into the logistics center and then another crashed on the military side. The security forces also found a truck laden with drones in the Musayib district in northern Babil that were also aimed at the airport. The facility has been a favorite target of the pro-Iran groups since the U.S. invasion. It is not only used by the Americans but the constant strikes are a sign that the government cannot keep the capital safe.
The U.S. and Israel struck two Resistance groups. Kataib Hezbollah’s 45th Hashd Brigade was hit with three airstrikes in Jurf al-Sakhr while Kataib al-Tayar al-Risali’s 31st Hashd Brigade was attacked in Garma, Anbar.
Iraqi News provided some casualties counts for the first month of the Iran war. First, Agence France Presse counted 101 people killed so far since February 28 Not all of those were due to attacks however as it included several Americans who died in a plane crash. The Resistance and security officials told the paper that 67 Resistance members had been killed as well. The pro-Iran factions have been pretty tight lipped about their dead and wounded when they are targeted as few press reports ever give any figures. So far the media has reported 118 dead and 306 wounded from attacks during the war. The casualties include 9 Iraqi soldiers, 7 Iranian Revolutionary Guards, 1 Kurdish security officer who were killed and 1 Border Guard, 2 foreign security guards, 5 Counter Terror members, 6 Peshmerga and 15 Iraqi soldiers who were injured. The rest were all Resistance fighters.
