Violence In Iraq At An All-Time Low

Violence in Iraq remains at an all-time low. In November there were only 23 security incidents reported. That was the same amount as October. Those were the lowest monthly totals since 2003.

 

All 23 incidents were done by the Islamic State. They took place in Babil (2), Baghdad (1), Diyala (10), Kirkuk (1), Ninewa (2), Salahaddin (6), and Sulaymaniya (1).

 

They led to 10 killed made up of 3 civilians, 3 Hashd al-Shaabi, and 4 members of the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) and 28 wounded consisting of 3 civilians and 25 Hashd. Diyala had 20 casualties, while the other provinces were in single digits.

 

Of the 23 incidents only 3 were offensive. The rest were aimed at keeping people out of IS areas. These are all in rural, mountainous, and desert regions of the country. Those are the only places where the Islamic State is operating now showing how marginalized it is. The group is barely holding on and is having no real impact upon Iraq anymore.
