The Islamic State and the Iraqi Islamic Resistance were both active in Iraq during the third week of May.
The Islamic State carried out two rare attacks from May 15-21. On May 16 a checkpoint was attacked in Kirkuk that killed 1 soldier and left two more wounded. Then on May 18 an IED went off that injured 4 more soldiers in Salahaddin.
The week before there was only 1 incident by the insurgency. Previous to that there had been four weeks with no attacks by IS.
The Islamic Resistance claimed 9 attacks upon Israel. That included 3 missile strikes and 5 drones. None of these were confirmed. The Resistance stated that it began attacks upon Israel in January in response to the Gaza War. Because the ceasefire with the United States remains in place in Iraq pro-Iran groups are talking about targeting Israel instead.
